Christina Mae Pierce, 76 of Belle Fourche died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Spearfish Regional Hospital.
She was born September 16, 1935 in Rochford, South Dakota to William and Vera (Hultenschmidt) Davis. Christina married Melvin Pierce in 1954 and together they had five children.
Mae worked various jobs, but her job at Taco Johns was the best. She spent many hours decorating and planting flowers there. She was known as “Granny” to all who knew her.
Mae was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cribbage and playing cards. The greatest joy of Mae’s life was her children and grandchildren. She spent many hours with them camping and other outdoor activities.
She is survived by her children, LeRoy (Renne’e) Pierce of Bay Minette, Alabama, Duane (Connie) Pierce of Belle Fourche, Christina “Tina” (Steve) Kirksey of Belle Fourche and Patty Schulze and her special friend, Ray Klaudt of Spearfish; brothers, Tom Davis and Earl Davis both of Belle Fourche; sister, Florence Stagmeyer of Sundance, WY; special family friend, Marilyn Ivers of Wall, SD and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Vera Davis; brother, Billy Davis; son, Alvin Pierce and a sister, MaryAnn Homer.
A Ceremonial Tribute was held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 23 at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche with Reverend Jeff Otterman officiating. Inurnment followed at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.
A memorial has been established to Toys for Tots.
